This workshop is dedicated to Samuel Núñez’s speciality: artistic work with real emotions. We will explore different approaches and techniques that can lead to an emotional expression of great depth and authenticity, while allowing a precise and safe handling of emotions.

After a theoretical and practical introduction to the physiology of emotions and classical emotion techniques, the focus will be on methods that Samuel has developed in the course of his research and decades of experience in training artists. In the spirit of transdisciplinary physical theatre, these techniques use the body as a starting point for emotional expression.

If the emotions are experienced physically, the emotional communication between the creatives and with the audience is authentic and immediate. At the same time, the mental space is not burdened and remains free for other things. The techniques enable a clear and multi-layered composition of emotional expression. They are versatile and can be used both on stage and in front of the camera.

Artists from all disciplines (acting, dance, music, etc.), performers and directors, as well as other interested parties are welcome to take part. No prior knowledge is required.

Warm-up and movement training to strengthen the connection with your own body.
Exercises to release blockages and mental states that hinder creative work – for example with regard to emotional contact, showing oneself or overly mental approaches to creativity and expression.
Classic techniques: Emotional memory according to Stanislavski, emotional states according to Artaud, method acting approaches.
New techniques: emotional induction, mirror technique, body telling, emotional work in the flow state, emotional grounding.
Micro-expressions and minimalism: the art of communicating emotions in a subtle way.
The state of stillness as a powerful starting point and secure basis for working with real emotions.
